Lhasa Tour 5 nights 6 days Itinerary

Fly to Lhasa airport and transfer 60km to the hotel, drive 1 hour to Yerlung Tsangpo and Lhasa Kyichu River. O/n Hotel

 At the early morning visit to the potala palace which was built in the 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo and later renovated by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. We will then visit Sera monastery, 5 km north of Lhasa city was built in 1419 by Jamchen Choeji, a disciple of Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelugpa sect at afternoon. Sera is one of the three major monasteries of
                           the yellow sect in Tibet and then visit Tibet Museum.

At the early morning visit Drepung monastery, the largest Monastery of the Gelugpa sect in Lhasa was built in 1416 by Jamyang chojie a disciple of Tsongkhapa. We will visit Jokhang Temple and Barkhor market; this is the holiest shrine in Tibet with houses of golden statues of the Shakyamuni Budhha, brought to Tibet by the Chinese princess Wenchen at afternoon.

 Lhasa – Namtso Lake (240km) Namtso, heavenly lake, situated in a mountainous area about 60km,   northwest of  Damxiong County. Namtso Lake extents 70km. from east to west. And 30km. from south to north, covering an area of 1,920 sq km. and altitude of 4.748 m above sea level. It is the biggest lake in Tibet and the second biggest salt lake in China as well as the highest lake in the world.

    Namtso Lake is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet, playing an important role among Tibetans.
Every sheep year in Tibetan  calendar, the Trekking Namtso Lake Festival is held and countless
pilgrims from far away visit the Lake to pay homage.     

Namtso Lake –Yangbajing – Lhasa, 80 km north of Lhasa, famous for its hot springs. People said that the hot springs were the fairy’s tears.
